1. Squirrel Beer: I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “My, this $765 is really burning a hole in my pocket, plus it’s so HEAVY. I wish I had something very important to spend it on.” Good people, Brewdog has heard your pleas, and packaged their answer in the stuffed carcass of your favorite roadkill. No, not Rush Limbaugh. The other one.

2. Clever Little Monkey: Apple needs to come to terms with the fact they are not going to win this war: as a crafty fifteen-year old just showed them, when he disguised a tethering app in what on first blush appeared a simple flashlight application. Maybe if Apple wasn’t firmly caught under the tyrannical boot of AT&T, they’d realize that this is what the people desire – an iPhone that is also a modem. LIBERTA!

3. Mystery Celebrity:
“Hey, I have this brilliant idea!”
“We are in New York City, the home of brilliant ideas – let ‘er rip!”
“We put a box in the middle of Bryant Park!”
“Great!”
“And we stick a celebrity in it!”
“Okay!”
“And people can look at them!”
“Right – then what?”

4. The Most Homoerotic Photos Ever Taken: Ok, it’s really silly, and I feel like a twelve-year old for even posting it – but some of these are extremely funny.

5. A Merkin?: I did not know what a merkin was? Did you? Now that I do, I don’t feel relieved. I feel confused, and troubled. One question has been answered, but now there are SO. MANY. MORE.

6. Bjork Protests Icelandic Energy Sales: This just totally falls in line with my theory that Bjork spends all her time communicating with Icelandic nature elves, and rescuing baby seals. If we discover cold fusion in our lifetime, trust me – Bjork will be the one to do it, using some strange combination of yarn and beat-boxing.

7. Witches Whiskers, Pixie Gowns: Through a competition held through Natural England, 10 endangered species were given common, adorable names. The reason they did this is because people have a natural tendency to want to destroy things they can’t pronounce.

Finally, I dare you to resist the evil powers of a baby in a watermelon…

Couture: clothes painstakingly custom-made from the finest materials; alternatively, something Juicy – or even Filthy. It’s hard not to chafe at the degradation of the term, which is technically reserved for members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (houses that create made-to-order pieces for private clients, amongst other criteria). Looking at creations recently sent down the runways, it’s sad to think artisanal techniques like hand beading may not survive in a world of rhinestoned terry sweatsuits.

But in fact, the handmade movement is ever gaining steam with the support of many bloggers. “Couture” may be associated with impossibly high prices, but in your own hands it’s an affordable way to obtain one-of-a-kind style. I have never been big into laces. There is just something inherently clumsy to me about them – they lack control, flop around based solely on their whim, often unravel and attempt to trip me. In a world of velcro and all sorts of clever fastenings, they just feel obsolete to me. Some bygone, whimsical artifact of the 1950′s.

Christian Siriano seems to agree. I love this clever spin he has created on the standard Converse. I love the clever use of the zipper on the seams, the ultra-feminine, satiny pale pink partnered with the patent bone toecap. It is the perfect blending of rugged and flirty, of boyish and girly.

Move over Chuck. Your little sister wants to play…

1. Dreamhouse in the Catskills: It’s the magic you find in the everyday: an enterprising lady built herself a tiny Victorian cottage in the middle of the woods. Can you imagine what it would be like to come across this on a hike?

2. Cake: Cake is awesome. Here are thirty that would make me pause before tearing into them barehanded to extract their delicious, sugary innards.

3. Paranoid – Android?: So Mr.Kaboom got an Android about 2 weeks ago, and I have to admit (someone cover Steve Jobs’ ears) – it’s rather awesome. You know that thing has a freaking metal detector in it? Anyway, this article discusses how maybe Verizon doesn’t NEED the iPhone, thank you very much. And from what I’ve seen, I am starting to agree.

4. The Cucumber Trick: I promise, it’s not as dirty as it sounds. It seems there is a technique where you rub on a cucumber and bitter white stuff comes out and…wait, it IS as dirty as it sounds. Mom, stop reading.

5. Facebook “LIKE” and “DISLIKE” Stamps: Silly, but amusing.

6. I Am Trying To Make You Vom: That’s right.

7. Picky Eaters Potentially Vindicated: New studies show that maybe picky eaters aren’t just a bunch of whiny little babies. I think I suffer from the opposite of this disorder: I am experimentally gnawing on the side of my desk as I type this. Go food.

Finally, this song and its accompanying music video by Janelle Monae is my favorite thing on the planet right now. Pompadours hallway and and tuxes, oh my!
