I want you to play this when you are driving to the beach, preferably with the top down, your toes curling in the wind as they dangle out the window…
It occurred to me that I haven’t made a mixtape since NOVEMBER. That is retarded. So, here’s a little music to help roll in those lovely spring days ahead…

I freaking love Halloween. For me, the holiday and the days leading up to it are a divine celebration of all things that make the spine tingle, the hair raise. Some people don’t like to be spooked, but personally, I can’t get enough of it. As long as I’m not in any form of mortal peril, I delight in anything that attempts to scare the pants off of me. Throughout October, I immerse myself in horror movies, scary books, haunted houses, and all the delightfully campy and creepy accoutrements of the season.
But I don’t just consider Halloween a silly day to gobble candy and wear silly costumes. For me, Halloween is the psychological release we so desperately need of anxieties and terrors – a celebration and revelry in fears, both large and small. The important thing to remember about fear is that once faced and conquered, it is transcendental – a moment of triumph and relief. Viewed in this light, Halloween becomes a holiday which celebrates our fears being tested, and overcome. A celebration of bravery, mystery and adventure.
With that in mind, here are some tunes to put you appropriately in the mood for the creepy fantastic. Enjoy…if you dare!!!

I am enjoying this: the subtle changing from one season to another, and how the change comes so appropriately with the start of my new position in life as married. With the wedding over, I feel like everything has slowed down considerably, and it’s wonderful. I can finally stop and smell the roses, or in this case, watch the leaves fall.
I usually find autumn is a bit of a sad time for me, but this year it is different. I feel hope for the future, and celebration for the present. That’s what this tape means to me. A beautiful shift, and sweet change, the dance of life, with all its peaks and falls. Enjoy.

My approaching wedding officially feels real. The pressure and preparation has definitely increased over the past few weeks, and as a result, this summer has felt like one of great anticipation; like dangling from the edge of a great, beautiful precipice. I think at this point, Fiance Kaboom and I are sick and tired of the planning – we are eager for the leap.
I feel like these songs express that sense of urgency, excitement, stress, and expectation. I hope you enjoy them, and remember to relish those little moments in the middle of the tempest.

June has been a torrential downpour of obligations and rain, rain, rain. It’s as if we were all living in a submarine, peeking out at the rays of light shining in through the sea.
I suppose this mix is “submarine music” – something to guide you through the underwater world, like a Jacque Cousteau club mix, if you will.
Anyway, hope you enjoy.

What have you been listening to this month?
May is such an odd time of year. It has growing pains, stands around like an awkward teenager, never sure if it’s one thing or another. I kind of like it for that reason – it’s cool, and warm, and full of seasonal surprises. And it means summer is right around the corner.
Here’s that music for that lush time in between.
