It’s absolutely frigid today, which is making me look at the time I could have worn an outfit like this with great longing. All I have to say is BRRR.
I am rather petite (5’4″) with a long torso, and I am often trying to find new and interesting ways of delineating my top and bottom portions, to make me look a little bit “leggier” – can you say 28″ inseam? I love the cropped vest, because it does just that. The funkadelic leggings also make the wee little bit of leg I have a little bit “more”.

Any other petite people out there? What are your tips and tricks for not looking like a munchkin?

I’m juuuust under 5’4” with a 30” inseam. I usually wear longer jeans though, with cute heeled boots, if I feel the need for some height, and a slightly higher rise too. Also high waisted pencil skirts do wonders. Btw, I love your boots here.
All good ideas, Lime. Thanks!
We should start a petite anonymous group! I’m 5’2…short legs & average torso. Needless to say pants need to be hemmed. You’d think I’d be fine with shirts but guess again. I’m busty which means most t-shirts will end up at my belly button lol. I’m still working on it
For a petite gal, I’m lucky to have proportionately long legs, but since I’m 5’1″, Munchkindom is kind of here to stay. All I have are fitted bottoms (skinny jeans are actually one of the best things to happen to mainstream clothing since straight-legged jeans and trousers fall off my hips!) but my recent holy grail is a pair of Naturalizer “Lerato” wedge ankle boots. Yes, really! They are a dream to walk in, and add 2.5 glorious inches to my height. When I wear my pants over the top of the boots, it looks deceptively like a flat heel, too!
Kitty: I have often though about how the web desperately needs a petite fashion site – there are just so many things that don’t work if you’re short!
Ansi: I love Naturalizers – will have to check out!
I feel your pain. Kind of, anyways. I’m 5’1″-2″ with proportionately long legs, but also very curvy so NOTHING ever fits off the rack correctly *sigh*
I mostly just wear heels, everywhere. I also try to pay close attention to proportions, and I have to try on tops before buying (sometimes I buy online, but more often than not it’s disastrous) – in between massive boobs & a short torso, it’s hard to find a flattering top.
You did a really good job of making your legs look longer! That is such a cute little vestything.
Michelle: My mom is about that size – we are a bunch of diminutive Italians.
I wish I could wear heels more, but I commute on foot so much it just isn’t practical.
Rock on, my petite sister!
Those leggings are so awesome!
Thanks Annie!

You’re welcome Herlinda!
