The last gasp of my shorts. It’s 50 degrees today, so who knows when I’ll be breaking them out anymore. I need to buy more cotton tights - in which case I may be able to rock them for another month or so yet.

I love my cowboy boots. I bought them in a thrift store in Boulder, Colorado several years ago, for the mind-bending price of $4. One of the best investments I made was getting these babies resoled and rubberized last year. It literally gave them a new lease on life. Since then, they have been my constant companion, my rough-and-tumble shoe I can break out for fancy dress, or just a rugged hike through the woods. Also, I recently discovered a great new application for them this season: with the profusion of outdoor weddings we have been attending, they have become my go-to formal shoe (trust me, you don’t want to wear heels in grass).
These are definitely one of the necessary staples of my wardrobe. What’s yours?

Nothing cooler than vintage cowboy boots. Love yours.
Thanks!
Oh my GOSH, what a good deal! They fit so well with your proportions too - color me jealous.
My shoe staple is this one pair of Fioni (yes, the Payless brand) synthetic boots that I bought at Goodwill a couple years ago for $9. They’re knee-high, with elastic corset bands along the back, and a couple of straps at the foot, and I wear them with everything, haha. I’ve been wanting to get them resoled and waterproofed for a while, but have no idea where to go or how much it costs! May I ask where you got your boots did?
Hi ansi,
They sound awesome! I actually got my boots repaired at a shoe repair shop in Manhattan (they can be tricky to find, but they do in fact still exist). I hunted around for a quote, and they were by far the cheapest - $40. The quotes I received went as high as $70, so I suggest doing your homework. Good luck!
