National Geographic: Unseen Sahara
1. National Geographic: Unseen Sahara: These rare aerial shots of Libya’s remote Fezzan region are dazzling and look like the ruins of some magical civilization.
2. Maurice Sendak Interview: If you are like me, you are still reeling from the masterpiece of a movie interpretation of, “Where The Wild Things Are.” After experiencing the movie, it was great to read Steven Heller’s interview with Maurice Sendak, and find out more about the author’s original intentions for the book, and how they were interlaced in the new form the movie paints of the timeless story.
3. The Perfect Boiled Egg: There are very few things I like as much as a soft-boiled egg. Regardless of how you prefer your egg boiled, discovering that perfect point to cook your perfect egg can be a tricky, frustrating business indeed, or at least, it was. Serious Eats removes the guess work, by conducting time tests and showing the reader just what you’ll find in that shell.
4. Speaking Faces: Ever wondered what others first impression of you are? Or for that matter, if your first impressions of others are similar to those around you? This website, allows a user to upload a single photo of themselves, and then other users vote on their immediate first impression. While I find the preselected options rather repressive, it’s an interesting social experiment on all sides.
5. The 6 Creepiest Places on Earth: Cracked.com compiles a list of places around the world sure to tingle your spine and chill the blood.
6. The F@#$ing Word of the Day: This website is the perfect solution to those of us who love grammar, but are inclined to prefer a little more potty in our mouths. I like my knowledge with a side of hubris, thanks.
7. Zombie Apocalypse: If the zombies attacked tomorrow, how likely would it be that you could survive it? Take this quiz and find out.
And finally, this time lapse video of the Milky Way passing over Texas is sure to take your breathe away. It feels almost holy…(hint: the magic happens 20 seconds in)…

2. Start planning an amazing summer adventure.
3. Invite your friends to an “Ice Cream Sandwich Party” – have each friend bring a type of large cookie, or a flavor of ice cream, and then go to dessert-town!
4. Label a jar “The Giving Jar.” Put a dollar a day into it for one entire year. At the end of the year, donate the money to the charity of your choosing.
5. Wear belly dancing anklets under skirts, and make a joyful noise wherever you wander.
6. Blow kisses to your reflection.
7. Memorize and practice your vinyasa daily.
8. Draw faces on your fingers, and then perform a digital opera.
9. Learn to tell fortunes in teacups.
10. Dare to be in rare form all of the time.

Top: Urban Outfitters; Cardigan: some ghetto fab store; Pants: eBay; Shoes: Pixie Market; Belt: eBay
I got this top from Urban Outfitters a couple months ago. I am really not a big t-shirt fan – I feel they are too casual and personally, I really feel the cut of most t-shirts is rather boxy and unappealing. But I simply love this top. Firstly, it is a v-neck, which immediately solves my hatred of the standard t-shirt neckline. Second the stripe design on it is fantastic, a veritable rainbow of bright, chaotic color across the chest. Though the colors have dimmed somewhat in consequent washings, I am still rather smitten with it.

Since taking this shot earlier this month, it’s already become too cold to wear my gladiator/boxer sandals. I miss them
Maybe I will try them with tights? Hmm…

“Haunted” Originally uploaded by Muse Photography
I freaking love Halloween. For me, the holiday and the days leading up to it are a divine celebration of all things that make the spine tingle, the hair raise. Some people don’t like to be spooked, but personally, I can’t get enough of it. As long as I’m not in any form of mortal peril, I delight in anything that attempts to scare the pants off of me. Throughout October, I immerse myself in horror movies, scary books, haunted houses, and all the delightfully campy and creepy accoutrements of the season.
But I don’t just consider Halloween a silly day to gobble candy and wear silly costumes. For me, Halloween is the psychological release we so desperately need of anxieties and terrors – a celebration and revelry in fears, both large and small. The important thing to remember about fear is that once faced and conquered, it is transcendental – a moment of triumph and relief. Viewed in this light, Halloween becomes a holiday which celebrates our fears being tested, and overcome. A celebration of bravery, mystery and adventure.
With that in mind, here are some tunes to put you appropriately in the mood for the creepy fantastic. Enjoy…if you dare!!!
